Joe Manganiello Confirmed as Deathstroke for Solo Batman Film

HBO True Blood and Sam Raimi Spider-Man alum Joe Manganiello has been confirmed as the villain Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson in the solo Batman film starting Ben Affleck.  Manganiello has the height and size to combat the largest Batman in live-action film history.

Fan-casting of Maganiello circulated after Affleck shared test footage of Deathstroke on social media.  Slade is a dangerous and charismatic character who is deceptive and formidable in battle.  He carries a sword, guns and grenades.  One-eyed and having defeated Batman in the comics, expect a knockdown, drag-out fight once the suspected ‘The Batman’ hits theaters.

Formerly known as Deathstroke The Terminator, he has been portrayed on live-action television as the season two “big bad” on the CW’s Arrow by Spartacus alum Manu Bennett.  That performance set an expectation that the former werewolf will have to follow.  Cartoon Network’s Beware the Batman featured the character and all his criminal behavior.  Most recently, Wilson was the primary antagonist in the DC animated feature, Son of Batman.

In other news, Mara Brock Akil(Being Mary Jane, The Game) is producing a Black Lightning television series with Greg Berlanti(Arrow, The Flash) that will air on FOX.  Black Lightning aka Jefferson Pierce will be coming out of retirement once his daughter becomes involved in gang-related activity.  The series will be the first superhero show that will feature an African-American as its lead in a decade.

Finally, Jason Mamoa begins shooting the reboot of The Crown in January 2017.  The production has gone through several issues through the past few years.  Actors, such as Luke Evans have dropped out and a production had shut down as a company.  The film should not require a large budget, given the scope and tone of the story.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition Review

Non-spoilers review of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition and is it better than the theatrical version of the film?  There is an added 30 minutes that makes this more coherent and a lot more fluid.  Not just in character motivations, but emotional depth.

Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is flushed out more and logic gaps are filled within the extra half-hour just by extending scenes and re-ordering them.  There is more of the Clark Kent story line as well.  He researches and reports news, primarily focused on Batman which is shown in the trailer.

Man of Steel & Artificial Wombs

Zack Snyder’s 2013 comic book movie Man of Steel, the Kryptonians kept their culture and population moving with their ‘genesis chambers’ that would grow children inside an artificial womb.  Recently, scientists have developed an actual artificial womb to grow the next generation of homo sapiens.

The film juxtaposes a long held practice of pre-determining life for successors with the chambers with a natural birth through pregnancy.  Humanity may have it backwards with the concept of free will.  Superman’s birth father emphasized the gift of choice and rejecting pre-determinism.

This innovation has potential to discover and unlock vast human intricacies for the betterment of the species.  Diseases, deformities, and other defects eventually will either be wiped out or heavily mitigated.  With genetic alterations, resistance to conditions may be available as well.

Genetics also play a significant role in physique, height, eye color, and hair texture.  Customized considerations may commoditize offspring, to a degree.  Pre-determination for children is a fluid area.  Differing opinions invoke discussion that Alan Touring started with what the scientific community refers to as the Touring Test.  The test to determine whether a subject is a robot or a person.

On certain levels, humans beings are robotic.  Programming through controlled stimuli from birth on is similar to how computers are coded.  Freedom of choice is an illusion to some who believe in a grander scheme by their respective god.

Once the wombs are fully-functional, a very large topic for debate in many areas.  The religion versus science debate returns, but after same-sex marriage debate ending, religious grounds are non-existent.  In gender politics, feminists will promote this new venture as it provides the option of whether to carry naturally or grow through the artificial womb.  For the LGBT community, it is a more expeditious method of procreation with no red tape.
